What would be arguments against making nodes truly symmetric, i.e. every node runs an introducer per default – apart from all the work to achieve this?

This does not imply that nodes can not offer different services (storage, helper, …).

To get a node into the grid, a URI to (an)other node(s) would be required (bootstrap nodes).
